Hendry Corporation was founded in 1926 by Captain F.M.
Hendry. The company
spent much of its early career designing and building hydraulic
pipeline dredges. The
company operated three dredges for many years over all parts of the
U.S. In the mid 90’s the company sold their tugboat, barge, and
dredge fleet. Hendry
had developed expertise in ship repair in maintaining their own
fleet for many years. At
this time, Hendry directed their efforts to ship repair.
Hendry had repaired numerous U.S. Army LCM’s in the late
80’s. Marketing
efforts turned to commercial tugs and barges.
Hendry has an outstanding performance record with the U.S.
Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.
Hendry sold their shipyard located on Westshore Blvd. in
Tampa to a housing developer. Consequently, the company located and purchased a large
acreage property located on Hooker’s Point in the Port of Tampa
from Tampa Electric Company. The
power plant located on the property was demolished, seawall renewed,
and a shipyard developed.
Our
customers include many commercial maritime companies, the U.S. Coast
Guard, U.S. Navy, Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Army.
Performance on many of these projects was rated as
“Excellent” and “Outstanding”.
Hendry operates a small – detail oriented shipyard that
strives for good recommendations from all of our customers.
We look forward to being of service to your organization.
